Class Calendar May through August 2012

Unless indicated, all classes will meet at the Antelope Creek Veterinary Health Care Center, 7405 Pioneers Blvd.

Kindergarten Puppy Training (KPT): for puppies 10 weeks to 7 months old. KPT introduces key obedience commands and puppy ownership basics (training, socializing, handling) and problem-solving for biting and chewing, barking, digging, stealing, pulling on the lead and jumping up. Finished KPT and wondering what's next?
Surviving Your Dog's Adolescence: A basic obedience training class JUST for older puppies: 8-18 months. Four week class. Email with questions or for registration form: jmorstad@prairiek9.com.

AKC Canine Good Citizen class: For owners who want a dog they can take anywhere, with special emphasis on well-behaved dogs in urban and institutional environments. This class will prepare you and your dog to test for the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. If you've ever thought about doing therapy work with your dog in hospitals, schools or senior centers, this class is for you. Six week class. Koehler Method of Dog Training (KMODT)Specialized basic obedience for dogs age 8 mos and up. No previous training necessary, but KMODT is boot camp for handlers. An hour of homework and training practice every day is what produces the result: Off-leash control in ten weeks. No dogs the first night of class. 8 week class. Training Tune-up!
This drop-in class is for any dog/handler teams who have trained with us in the past, either in puppy kindergarten or past Summer School sessions. We'll be working at all levels (including competitive levels Novice, Open and Utility). If your training needs a tune-up, or you'd like some guided sessions while working around distractions, please make plans to join us! Weekly during June, July and August; punch cards available. Tracking:Teach your dog to follow human scent, and prepare for tracking tests or titles. Tracking regulations and info available from the AKC at www.akc.org. Six week class. Locations vary. Email with questions or for registration form: jmorstad@prairiek9.com.

Meet & Greet: appropriate behavior when stopping to chat with someone while out on a walk.
This is one of multiple skills required for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen certification program.
